So I’m sure you all remember that Iraqi reporter throwing his shoe at Former (THANK GOODNESS!) President George Bush. Well, there was a sculpture erected to honor that journalist–rightfully so. I can’t stop laughing at the fact that there is a large as shoe in Iraq for that hilarious event, sad thing is that only two days after it was erected it had to be taken down because it was politically biased.

Iraq Shoe SculptureR.I.P. shoe that delighted millions of Americans one faithful day.

Earlier we posted (here) about an art gallery located in the U St. corridor of Washington, D.C.  We mentioned that we would feature another gallery in the same area and here it is. Hamiltonian Gallery.

The gallery features rising artists who have competed to obtain a fellowship with respected artist. Their work is featured in the gallery for a period of time until the next rising artist wins the next fellowship. Featured below is the work of Linda Hesh and James Rieck.

The gallery currently features new artist.

Ciara’s new video for “Never Ever.” Really simple but pretty good. She looks amazing in it as well.

What do you think?

Jazmine Sullivan’s “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” video….

Enjoy.

How do you like it?

Ryan Leslie continues to be a dominating producer that produces nothing short of magic. His solo effort has been a little shaky, why? (No clue, he is similar to The Dream– great producer, great musicianship, great music for himself and others). Here is a new track from him entitled “Gibberish” and it’s just that, gibberish(never heard anything like it before). It’s sick how although he is singing (who knows what) and it comes off very well. Its not hard to like a Ryan Leslie track and this one continues to show Ryan’s talent. He is the producer turned artist to look out for in 2009.

Here is a classic from N.E.R.D. just so you can remember yesteryears…

Doesn’t mean it’s fly. Is it just me or are the Kanye/ Louis V collabo sneakers really bland and ugly? They come in four colors.

Happy Friday.

So this post will include more than one element.

20ftdar

First. It should be noted that singer D’Angelo (you know the naked one asking “How Does It Feel”) will be releasing his first studio album in 9 years this year. It will be called James River and the neo-soul singer will work with the likes of Prince, Gnarls Barkley,  Raphael Saadiq and Mark Ronson. Can you spell excitement???

Second. Peep “It” girl model Chanel Iman’s cover of page six.

FOB-cover.inddThird.  Check out Idris Albra and Beyonce’s upcoming movie Obsessed poster. The trailer is out and the movies looks like it can be interesting.

1giq0land Last. Here are some new music downloads:

Keri Hilson- Control Me

Ne-Yo Bang Bang

LeMarvin ft. Lil Kim- Download

Bobby Valentino- Stay With Me

Oj Da Juiceman ft. Nitti- Big Head

Yea, the title confuses me too. Well it seems that Disney has teamed up with Etnies to make these. [Not exactly running out to cop them, but they are nice]

Here is the video for Keyshia’s “You Complete Me.” One of the few good tracks on her, IMO ,lackluster CD.

The historic U St. corridor of Washington, D.C. is home to several restaurants, clubs, stores, and art galleries. MESH recently went to two galleries and encourages everyone to check them out.

First is Dekka. It’s an art gallery where local artists can submit their works and participate in art shows. The gallery also is a clothing/jewelry boutique for both women and men. The atmosphere of Dekka is really laid back and art appreciators should definitely check it out.

Obama InaugurationIraq Obama Inauguration Global ReaxGo America!

martin_luther_king_upper

Happy MLK Day. Remember, tolerance and true humanitarianism is the key to a better world.

Who would think that after all these years of MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech the nation would be swearing in its first African American President. Today and tomorrow transcends race and touches on true change in a place that might finally be living up to its promised “dream.”

God Bless America.
