The biggest night of the Thespian year is here… so of course we at MESH only thought it appropriate to make a cameo…stay tuned folks…
PRE-OSCAR THOUGHTS
JESUS CHRIST THE FASHION IS STUNNING. Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson (both BLACK and Best Supporting Actress Nominees) look AMAZING! Penelope Cruz has on a 60 yr. old vintage Chanel Dress…OW! Take that, vintage lovers… I really hope my fellow-bison Taraji wins, almost as much as I hope Viola Davis does… Anne Hathaway is GORGEOUS in Armani Privé…but enough of that…things are about to begin!
Channels inner Joker á la Heath Ledger….
AND HERE….WEEEE…GO!
8:40
Hugh “Wolverine from X-Men” Jackman is the host. His opening was pretty funny… I hope he can stay this good.

WINNER : BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS -
PENELOPE CRUZ in “VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA”
Ok ok…so I really wanted Viola to win…and to be brutally honest I find it hard to really appreciate Cruz’s acting when I can’t understand 60% of what she says… but at the same time how can you not like her? She just seems so nice. Felicitaciones Hermosa

9:24 - COMMERCIAL BREAK THOUGHT
A lot of people simply do not like the Oscars for various reasons. I’m the anomaly. I love the fact that the best in the business come together in one place. I love the rich history. I love the the rawness of it all – of seeing those who on screen are so tough, so perfect, so…GOD-LIKE appear so open and vulnerable (they really don’t know who wins until they hear it, unlike other shows)… I just love it… just lay back and take it in …and I’m sure you will as well.
9:37 – COMMERCIAL BREAK THOUGHT
It’s a basic ceremony so far. And the most emotion I’ve felt thus far is the seething hatred for Howard’s wireless. They’re really making this play-by-play thing a lot harder than it needs to be. Taraji baby…can u donate a lil so we can update this shit system? Thankx love.
9:47
Seth Rogan (in this case with James Franco) and his skits enhance ANY award show moment. Sheer Comedic euphoria.
9:54
BEYONCE APPERANCE (lol) !!
So I was just thinking about how “just-ok” these Oscars are so far…and then…in the middle of Hugh Jackman’s second (getting old quickly) performance…who appears but Beyonce herself to add her own flavor to the performance. I’m not even NO WHERE NEAR one of those Beyoncé fanatics, but you have to respect someone who can totally change the atmosphere instantly…AT THE OSCARS no less. Go in B!
oh..Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and that girl from Mama Mia sang too…but who cares when you’re on the same stage as B?

WINNER – BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
HEATH LEDGER in “THE DARK KNIGHT”
You know how sometimes a person wins an award and you just can’t help but think they won simply because of some type of tragedy they endured? THIS AIN’T IT! Heath Ledger was hauntingly brilliant in THE DARK KNIGHT and I believed from the moment I saw it that he deserved this award.
Congratulations Mr. Ledger. May you continue to Rest In Peace.

WINNER: BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
KATE WINSLET for “The Reader”
Merryl Streep lost?…WHHHAAAAATTT?! That’s new. But on a more serious note, Mrs. Winslet has been most deserving of this award so many times and has, so many times been overlooked. Long overdue. Well deserved. Amen Kate.
WINNER: BEST DIRECTOR
Danny Boyle for “Slumdog Millionaire”
As B.I.G. used to say: “…and another one”
11:55
WINNER: BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
SEAN PENN in “MILK”
Ok so Sean P. has won this award about a million times… Ok only twice (2003 for Mystic River, 2008) but regardless of the number of wins, Mr. P has quietly built the case for Hollywood Immortality and the right to be mentioned in ANY TALK of the best Actors of our generation. Kudos to Mickey Rourke Everyone had written this guy off and said his career was over… but it’s very much back in the swing now. Congratulations for that Mr. Rourke.
WINNER: BEST MOTION PICTURE
“SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE”
Perfect ending to the best feel-good movie of the year. Congratulations. You owned these Oscars.
12:00 – END CREDITS
Yea so most of you don’t care for or love the Oscars too much…and that’s ok lol. But for the few of you out there who love this night like I do, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. Looking back you will realize that this was the first year that a feel-good, underdog, foreign movie totally ruled the Oscars (Slumdog Millionaire); one of the greatest actresses of our generation got her first Oscar (Kate Winslet); and of course, the first time MESHLIFE was with you for the whole ride lol.
Good Night and God Bless…back at it on Monday.
