The Love Experience and Love Behind the Melody are effortlessly soulful masterpieces from singer Raheem DeVaughn. They both spoke to a sincere and organic form of R&B. They both had their own identities yet fit the mastermind of Raheem’s artistry. They both are two of my favorite albums.

A lot of people aren’t aware that next week Raheem will be releasing his third studio album The Love & War Masterpiece (March 2). I must admit I am very apprehensive about the album. I’m not a fan of most of the leaks I’ve heard including his current single “Bulletproof” though I must keep faith in Raheem DeVaughn’s artistry. I am previewing the album now and there are some promising tracks and I will just have to wait until hearing the entire album to determine if it lives up to its predecessors. I will try to give a full review for this one and I hope Raheem brings it, the man truly creates magic with his music.

Are you guys interested in Raheem DeVaughn’s next album?

There are only two words that come to mind when I think of Melanie Fiona-gorgeous & talented.

I was surprised to come across this clip for one of my favorite songs from her album The Bridge “You Stop My Heart”. It was a Valentine’s gift to her fans and has me wishing she released the track as an official single with a full video. It’s great that Melanie is finally getting some respect with her craft as her single “It Kills Me” has reached #1 on the R&B Charts propelling her debut to sell more. She’s hard at work as she plans to release another album this year. Enjoy the clip.

The latest issue of French Vogue features it’s first solo black model on the cover since 2002, Rose Cordero. She looks absolutely stunning. The spread features her in military inspired fashions by Louis Vuitton.

I learned how to tie a bowtie the other day and I felt so accomplished! I’m sure not many other women have even considered learning how to do it, but it’s a lot more tedious than I thought it would be–finding the right size, shape etc.. It really made me pay attention to men’s neckwear and how crucial it is in relation to the outfit. SO, I was really excited to see the latest spread of Drake in GQ, which features him demonstrating how to measure neckties and button downs. I love seeing a man dress like … a man !

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately. Fashion Week is crazy! Bryant Park is a zoo right now! The tents are amazing, the girls are skinny, and these damn gift bags are DOOOPE!! I wish yall could be here with me, the shows are of course, incredible. Yet there’s still a meloncholy aura present in the wake of Alexander’s death. Yea, this is going to be a fashion week for the books. So glad I was here to experience it!

(Side. Eye.)

[ahem] As moms used to tell me when I thought I had an ounce of authority:

… And then you woke up!

I’m not at Fashion Week. If I was, i’d be snorting coke off Kate’s boobs at the Jeremy Scott afterparty.

Nope, still at Howard— D.C. Still trying to figure out how i’m going to actually give a damn about work after I’ve been out of school for 11 days (word to D.C.’s 2010 #Snowmaggeddon), still —MESHY. But I have been trying to keep up with Fashion Week via the net and twitter [if you want amazing Fashion Week coverage follow @GQFashion @Cutblog @womensweardaily @FashionWeekNYC ]-  and it’s making me feel like i’m at “the Park.” Between trying to memorize when the shows are, what shows to look for, who’s showing online, yada yada yada.. #NYFW has become a new subject for me [that'd be 21 credit hours now. You know, in case you're counting].

But um yea, about that fashion week. There are tons of lines im really enjoying, and I plan on posting some of them later on, but this I couldn’t hold out any longer. [Enter shoes, stage right]

What is being dubbed the “Glowy Shoes” being show at the Rodarté shows.

What!

No no– that was not a question.

Insane! Shoes that light up like some damn ’92 Filas while still staying couture!! Yea this is insane, amazing fashion.

O and Emily…

One of my favorite song-writers/artists/producers The Dream has released his first single to be lifted off his upcoming LoveKing album. The song (titled “LoveKing”) is classic Dream-and I am not complaining. I was apprehensive when the beat first kicked in but my worries vanished as the song got into the heart of it. With his trademark off-the-wall lyrics and addictive production, “LoveKing” serves as a pleasant start to the material expected from the album. I am a Dream fan, Love/Hate and Love Vs. Money were amazing and cohesive efforts so I expect the same from the third installment.

Here’s the video for Letoya Luckett’s latest single (my favorite from her latest album) “Good to Me”

Simple. I like. Plus she looks gorgeous in the clip.

Today marks a sad day in the fashion world as famed and beloved designer Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning in London. Known for his modern and innovative designs, McQueen was a praised designer who understood what was new and next in fashion. Bold, experimental and daring, McQueen was a budding legend in the fashion world and him as well as his works will be cherish and missed.

Seeing as I am actually from the Caribbean as well, I was definitely one of those who gave Rihanna a hard time for her lack of representation. However, she finally decided to tap into her island background with this one and give us something a little different and less ‘dark’. I love it. The colors, and the subtle dance moves are fiyyyah. Who knew she could slow wind.

Wait what happen to Beyoncé’s hiatus? With her upcoming video with Lady Gaga for “Telephone” and now this video for Alicia Keys’s “Put It In a Love Song” she will still be in the lime light….and I’m not complaining whatsoever. She works so damn hard.

Anyways here are some pics from the set of the “Put It In a Love Song” vid.

Looks like it’s set in Brazil and will be a winner.

Bring it A….and B….haha.

Popular brand Lacoste works my nerves. I can’t stand overly saturated brands (like Polo Ralph Lauren) and everyone’s uncanny desire to purchase their clothes–wanting quantity instead of individualistic quality. But I must say, the lookbook for Lacoste Red goes in. The vivid colors are used brilliantly and dare I say there are a few articles I am interested in.

If you are new to this MESH. thing, first let me say welcome.

Second, what took you so long?

Third, Tom Ford is one of my favorite designers (so just keep that in mind as you join the MESH. family)

Check out his new eyewear campaign.

And here he is talking to GQ about the fashion world and the film industry (two loves of mine).

Initially, I wasn’t a huge fan of Rihanna‘s album, Rated R. Perhaps, it was my bias over the situation, but after giving it another chance when things cooled down I’ve come to accept the fact that it actually is a solid effort.

Rihanna brings back that island girl feel we were introduced to her with in the latest single “Rude Boy“. Here’s a look at some video stills from the shoot.

Although the second picture gives me “Kitty Kat” by Beyonce, I’m digging the shots (minus the wig in the last one). I can’t wait to see how it ends up. Visually, Rihanna’s people always give us gold.

The rasp-jazz songstress, Erykah Badu, takes us back to her musical roots with this captivating new single. The highly-anticipated “Window Seat” from her upcoming album New Amerykah Part Two: The Return of the Ankh is just the soothing cut I’ve been waiting to hear from her. The lyrics are executed perfectly alongside its smooth production. I wasn’t a huge fan of New Amerykah Part One: 4th World War, so hopefully this is reflective of what to expect from the sequel. The album is expected to drop on March 30th.

I’m getting tired of backpacks.

Well, maybe I’m just getting tired of the one I have. It’s actually a really nice piece, purchased it last year and is very durable and made with fashionability in mind. But, it’s still not the one. We’re in college, and nine times out of ten, you’re going to need a bag that combines utility with–looks.

I’m trying to become a bit more efficient so that I don’t carry bags at all times. So I make sure I read all materials, chapters, before class so I don’t have to carry books around campus all day, I have a legal pad for various different subjects as opposed to binders and spiral notebooks to save space [and extra baggage], and keep all miscellaneous items needed for class [worksheets, handouts, syllabi, etc.] inside my handy dandy HU portfolio.

The point of this all being, I’m trying to lessen my daily load of “carryons” around campus; trying to lessen the need for a backpack. [I really think they bring down the quality of a look sometimes--never a good thing]. That being said, I think I’ve found a great alternative with Dutch travel company, Travelteq’s latest offering: the Trash laptop bag.

This bag is just pretty amazing.

Made out of 100% Italian Leather. Originally a travel bag, the Trash is great for everyday use. There’s a shock resistant compartment for your laptop [15 inch max.], as well as areas for your phone, sunglasses, papers, etc. Did I mention it was handmade 100% Italian Leather?

The price is going to be a bit more than you’d pay for a backpack, but you all know I don’t post things too expensive unless I see a possibility for sustained longevity. This bag would last for a long time, which inevitably makes it worth it… and like I said, it’s Italian leather! The bag is available in a cognac and black colorway at the moment, but I believe green and yellow versions are on the way.

Available HERE for $503.00
