Music.Edge.Style.Heaven.

We try not to post too much Howard stuff on the site. We recognize that a lot of our viewers are from outside the Mecca, and while we love our alma mater, we don’t want to run any of you off. But sometimes.. it’s necessary to remind everyone just why us Bison on the Hilltop are the proverbial “cream of the crop.”

Enter: Reel Pangea Film Productions

We introduced you to the upstart film company a while back in one of our What’s New, Who’s Next segments . Started by prospective seniors Kristen Iverson and John Knight, Reel Pangea has been making a huge impact on the student body this summer, all in preparation for their magnum opus: a remake of the classic Notorious BIG “Sky Is The Limit” music video.

Peep the preview of their remake below.

Well there you have it. Look out for the final product later this month.

P-Thugg [yes, we're serious] and Dave 1, more commonly known as electrofunk duo Chromeo finally released the video to one of my favorite summer tracks, Don’t Turn the Lights On.

Usually eyes in weird places [literally and figuratively] freak me out, but this shit was cool.

Look out for Chromeo’s third album, Business Casual, set to drop [oh look another one] September 14th.

Unfortunately we have to begin entertaining the unsettling realization that no matter how hard we try, school is around the corner.

Sigh.

Tis true. Regardless of how many more rooftop parties you attend, mojito’s you indulge in, or suntanned beauties you obsess over, over the course of the next few weeks, many of us will return to campus and go through the daily grind we as students have become so accustomed to.

School’s almost here, so it’s time to start getting into that mode again. Time to get adequately prepared. So why not start where a student usually starts the weeks preceding school: the supplies.

Enter: O’Hanlon Mills Herringbone Laptop Sleeve

Composed of the tweed-like herringbone cloth, the O’Hanlon Mills sleeve is 13 inches and will be great [esecially for all you Mac users] for all the times you have to carry your laptop around campus. Great way to keep your pc safe, protected, and look good doing it.

Available exclusively at Urban Outfitters for a fantastic price of $24 USD.

Your favorite Alabama hick takes a stab at the Lemonade beat.

I’ll admit, lyrically Yelawolf isn’t even in my top ten of the “new” MC’s out there. But there is definitely some talent there, and the angle he brings to the game is definitely something new. I just finished listening to his Trunk Muzik mixtape, and it’s compelling stuff. But i’ll go more into that with next week’s mixtape series [stay tuned for more info on that]. But for now, indulge in this sour tidbit.

Thought I was buggin’ when I saw: “Kanye West performs tracks from upcoming album Good Ass Job at the Facebook Headquarters in Paolo Alto.” in my Safari feeder – but I wasnt. I know i’m supposed to be trying not to inadvertantly post entire albums in pieces before they drop, but this just needs to be seen.

“Mama’s Boyfriend” – Good Ass Job

“Chain Heavy” – Good Ass Job

This is the making of a masterpiece, so we broke out the chains and told em ‘Masta, peace’”

Second single from Wale off his upcoming mixtape dropping in two days. There’s not too much I don’t like about this. Folarin goes in, especially the last verse. The lil George Costanza sample in the middle was dope too. Gotta feeling this is gonna be a pretty decent mixtape. Drops in two days. Word to the Soup Nazi!

Aumtum 2010 provides us with a new spin on the classic Levi jacket. A lot lighter than the previous, commonly-known version and completed with a super distressed “heavy weight denim jacket in a vintage ‘Graniteville’ finish’ with an added dose of denim colouration and exposed rivets—-[[gasps for air ]]—, the 1936 Type 1 jacket is nice!

You’ll also find the sleeves worn and a cinch on the back for added detail.

At $277 its a little more than what I’d think about paying for a denim jacket. But then again I have a feeling if you get this, you’ll be set for a looong time. Quality.

I’ll be the first to tell you: I’m not cool.

Nope.

I have a lil blog, done a few things on campus, copped a few items the average guy might not have, but nah— cool isn’t me. Cool is who I associate with, cool is who surrounds me. Cool are my mentors: Danyel Smith, Coltrane Curtis. Cool are the ones that I look at to help get myself to where I want to be.

Enter: Coltrane Curtis. Founder, Team Epiphany.

I work with Epiphany, and Epiphany works with influencer’s — the cool people.

Kanye, Dee&Ricky, Mariel Haenn, Chris Julian. Some of the names you know, some you don’t. But that’s the thing about cool. They don’t care what you think. They dont need your approval, they do what they want, how they want, and in the end they reap the benefits — while you watch .

Now pay attention.

Recognize: A young, cool Coltrane Curtis

Understand: It’s organic. Various advertisements featuring a young, cool Coltrane Curtis.

The Cool Factor: FOX Business interviews Coltrane Curtis on “How To Make Your Business Cool.”

When 34-year-old entrepreneur Coltrane Curtis enters the room, people think, “he’s cool.” This isn’t an assumption. When Curtis showed up for the in-studio interview at the News Corp building in New York City last week, the make-up artist whispered (without knowing what he was being interviewed about): “Wow, he is so cool.” Read the rest of the FOX Business article here .

After two commercials and nearly 180 personalized videos for his fans, Isaiah Mustafa, more commonly known as the Old-Spice-Commercial-Man is calling it quits after putting together the best commercial of 2009 and one of the overall best ad campaign’s in recent history.

Okay, I hate the radio. The same “top ten” songs played over and over, it’s idiotic and annoying. But since my iPod connector chord to my car shorted out, I’ve been forced to listen to the radio stations up here in the DMV area. After hearing “Little Freak” and “My Chick’s Bad” play back to back three times a hour, a song came on that instantly grabbed my attention. I was trying to figure out who sang it and then I discovered–Dondria. She’s a So So Def recording artist who got her break by posting her covers of popular songs on Youtube. Checked out a couple of her videos, chick has a great voice. Then I came across the video for her single (that one on the radio) “You’re the One” and I think I’ve fallen in love. She’s my new “new artist I want to make it big.” Even though the video premiered last month, I think you should still check it out.

Another super cool dose of viral video, this time courtesy of Swedish musician Fredde Gedde.

After somehow making a dual recording image of himself, he belts out 22 themessongs from your fave TV shows past and present. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Naruto, Friends, Love and Marriage, Charles in Charge, Cheers!!!

But let me stop spoilng it for you, just sit and enjoy.

Allow me to reintroduce myself:

MY NAME IS AARON

You may know me as AR. I used to write for this one blog, maybe you’ve heard of it, TheMESHlife.com? It’s kind of a big deal. But lately I’ve been acting WEAK

#weakweakHELLAweakweak

It’s been entirely too long since you’ve seen  the first and eighteenth letter after a few posts (no no, didn’t have to count. I know where my chips fall [in the alphabet no less lol]).

But as I was saying, there’s no reason why you shoudn’t see AR after a few posts every day. So for that, to my readers, and my co-conspirators against the blogoshphere (whttap PNC’s), I apologize.

The MESH reader is a go getter, a person who doesnt take “no” for an answer, and doesn’t give excuses.

WE are the generation, and MESH is the fuel for that generation.

And this tank ain’t gonna run on empty, ya heard me.

I’m back bitches. [sorry for cussin']

Couple of videos dropped today. Let’s get started

First. The disappointing Drake “Over” video directed by Anthony Mandler (who usualy does such a great job). He just can’t win with his videos can he?

Second. This interesting viral video of Teairra Mari covering Usher’s “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”. She definitely is sexy in the clip and it has its funny moments.

Last. The latest single for Melanie Fiona “Ay Yo”. I appreciate the version of the song I have better, but the video is still simple and nice.

Personally, I really — oddly, like the piece. I’m not quite sure why, but whatever the reason I feel it would correlate with this quote from upscale online retailer, Ok-ni:

Each collection is an experiment involving the question of how I can manage to juggle good and bad taste, or rather what people perceive as bad taste in our society. What I love about fashion is that it is all about overcoming that threshold of embarrassment. There are always some pieces that let you act something out

Let  this – fashion –  be what it is.

Two interesting songs were released over the weekend. One from “American Boy” singer Estelle the other a leak from everyone’s favorite idol, Fantasia Barrino-proving just how freaky each can be.

Estelle‘s “Freak” is a great track but the accompanying video does little for me. Why is she so dark in the video with those loud pink lips? That doesn’t read as ‘flattering’ to me. But either way check it out.

Fantasia‘s “Control Freak” is certified crack music and I’ve been playing it on repeat all week. The sensual tune has Fantasia’s trademark raw and raspy vocals milking the seductive track. I hope she can offer more tracks that bump as hard as this one for her upcoming album.

Music.Edge.Style.Heaven

Last January MESH. was birthed from the minds of Aisha Johnson, Aaron Randle, & CJ Trahan II.

Last January the world was introduced to music, edge, style, and a bit of heaven.

Last January the MESHlife was created.

Last January it all began.

MESH. is excited to be celebrating our first birthday this month. Though we don’t have a particular date, January 2009 is a special month for the blog. It took the coincidental merge of three driven young individuals (the PNCs) to form the force that is MESH. The blog has quickly grown into a well-known entity in the blogosphere and is continuing to grow past all expectations. With the latest music, fashion, and lifestyle posts, MESH. has garnered the respect of many businesses and fellow lifestyle blogs. 2009 was an unforgettable year for the blog and it survived many struggles. But it’s a new year, and a new day and the MESH. PNCs are ready (along with you) to take the MESHlife to a new plateau of success. We would like to thank all of our supporters, especially those special few who have been down with us from day one (you know who you are).

Feel free to contact us as always @
