Young Money Ent. (aka today’s Murder Inc) has released their video for the single “Bed Rock” which was originally leaked as an Omarion (when he was on the label) demo called “The Way She Walks”. Okay, I like Young Money, so the video does the song justice. I must admit though I prefer Omarion on it over Lloyd but eh, he does a good job as well.
I’m not the biggest fan of those mixtape style remixes (aside from a couple here and there by Trey Songz) but I must admit this Mario and Busta assisted remix to Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” is one of the best I ever heard. But after all, it is Mario.
The moral of the story is, people slept on Lloyd’s original Lessons In Love. There is no doubt that the album was fire from beginning to end, and it’s rare that I feel that way about an entire project. This mixtape was highly anticipatedhere at MESH and I know you all won’t be disappointed. The mixtape features remixes and some unreleased joints from Lessons In Love, enjoy.
Underrated \??n-d?(r)-?r?t\-to not be aware or take account of the full abilities or potential of.
Take that definition in. I’ll wait for it to marinate in your mind a bit. Ready? Okay, here we go.
The music industry is known for many great artist and talents. It’s also known for several individuals attempting to reach a certain caliber of respect and celebrity. In this fight for true recognition, there can be a mixup of who receives deserving attention and whose talents are almost blatantly ignored. The artists who produce quality music and don’t receive the attention they deserve via sales, awards, or any other type of recognition are referred to as ‘underrated’ artists. Now, we’ve all got our own ideas of who deserves the most attention in the music industry and the following is mine:
Only a few of the popular artists of the time truly deserve the attention they garner (i.e. Beyoncé, Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne, Usher, etc.) while others not so much (Rihanna and others of her kind).
There is a odd disconnect from quality music and attention. Although I’m glad a vast majority of the better artists in the world do not have their works tarnished by ‘going mainstream’, I do feel that certain artist should gain more recognition for their musical genius.
Here is a list of the twenty recent most underrated R&B artist (in my opinion). No particular order.
1. Tamia
2. Anthony Hamilton

Let me know who I forgot or your favorite ‘underrated’ artist.
Gem – a person or thing considered to be outstandingly good or special in some respect.
Hidden Gems. Songs that could have been Number 1 hits, but never made it to the radio. Regardless, you need these songs, they’re amazing.
Gem 1
“Issues” by N2U.
One of my favorite slow jams, PERIOD. I don’t know why they never made it, I blame it on Jermaine Dupri (lol). But with “Baby Mama Love,” followed by this jam, they easily had the potential to rule the Boy Band genre. Such are the ways.
Gem 2
“Makeda.” by Les Nubiannes.
If you’re older than 17, you remember sometime around ‘94 hearing a song in FRENCH blasting on your hip-hop/r&b radio. Random? All I know is that I used to act like I knew the words and gibber the entire song. You probably have no clue what they’re saying, but who cares; the vibe to this song is insane. Sit back, pour a glass, and just enjoy.
Gem 3
“Feel So Right.” Lloyd.
From the most underappreciated artist in the [R&B] game, this song is just amazing. Simply amazing. Just listen.
Like Janet Jackson’s song title, I’ve come to the realization that I am a R&B Junkie. Yes, I’m an eclectic soul that can listen to nearly every genre of music and delight in listening to sounds that aren’t exactly mainstream to others, but I have to admit that R&B is my favorite genre of music. It’s something about an R&B song when done right that can delight me for years. Okay, enough rambling, here are some new R&B songs. Hope you enjoy some of them (they are new to me too).
This is Teraji P. Henson. She’s a fellow Bison (Go, Howard University!) and this is her winning a NAACP Image Award for her acting. I want her to win an Oscar on the 22nd.
All these are Raf Simons bags. All of them are very interesting and low-key the shit. I want one. They are low-key expensive too (actually high key).
