This movie--this life story– is going to be incredible. I don’t think anyone will want to miss this.

As some of you may know Johnta Austin is a very well known song-writer in the R&B game. He is responsible for some of the biggest hits of this century, such as “Don’t Forget About Us” by Mariah Carey “Be Without You” by Mary J. Blige and “Miss You” by Aaliyah just to name a few.
Johnta has been heavy with the new releases these days to build up more of a reputation as an actual artist rather than writer. Ocean Drive is a compilation of demos he’s done for other artists as well as himself over the years. I guess he decided to release this so people would get a feel for his sound?
There’s no doubt that his lyrics and the production on these tracks are fiyah, but I still have to get used to his vocals. They’re good, but at times come off a bit strained. Nevertheless, he’s a pretty decent artist with a lot of potential especially with his excellent writing skills to keep him afloat.

Peep the cover and a spread of Giant Magazine‘s July “Power Issue” featuring their list of the 50 Most Influential People. On the cover is Nick Cannon (Mr. Carey) as he is number 17 on the list that is topped with President Barack Obama. I don’t really see how Nick made the list let alone the cover, but I can’t knock it and his spread is very dapper.

As Jermain Dupri gets canned as head of Island Def Jam, singer/songwriter/producer The Dream releases a new song that serves as a joint 1st single for his sophomore album due in February. It features Mariah Carey. Like most Dream songs, it’s very catchy but his new material as a whole seems to be subpar to the songs on his debut album. Hopefully he comes just a little bit harder.
