Everyone already knows how I feel about Kid Cudi, but I decided to be a good journalist and still deliver news about him to our readers. He recently sat down with MTV to discuss his upcoming release Cudder, which features The Clipse, Pharrell, Snoop and many more.
Cudder, I already got five tracks locked in,” he told us recently in New York. “We got Snoop, we got Pharrell. I just was in the studio with him. We got Jim Jonsin. I did a record with him. I’m gonna get back in the studio with him. Trying to get the right amount of hit records on this. It’s gonna be the complete opposite of what Man on the Moon was. Man on the Moon was so serious. This one is gonna be more playful and fun. It’s about having a good time.

Recognize: Tailored Jacket and Tote Bag. Pieces from the Billionaire Boys Club Fall/Winter 2009 Line.
Understand: Sometimes, even when you’re style is subtle and conservative, you need a print that really pops. Usually I’m not a fan of an outlandish print, especially on a classic staple of subtle refinement like the blazer, but this print offered by BBC does just enough to stand out, yet not so much to—well, do too much. Success.
Make It Happen: Jacket – $312 USD Tote – $159 USD Available HERE
Honestly, I didn’t even know Nelly was still attempting to ride his underwhelming album Brass Knuckles. I do however bump his “Let It Go” featuring Pharrell often and am glad to see it getting the video/single treatment. Enjoy.
Nice vid. Reminds me of Snoop’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot”

Kanye West has certainly been making the rounds within the fashion industry–leaving his mark in the house of brands such as Louis Vuitton and the Gap, his frequent front row visits to fashion shows by Mariegla and Hussein Chalayan, and effortless trendsetting day-to-day style. Recently, he has entered the realm of styling and assisted in the October issue of ELLE Magazine alongside it’s creative director Joe Zee. The girl he styled for the shoot remains nameless at this time, yet his work has not gone unnoticed. Kanye is one of two rappers to be completely embraced by the high fashion industry, alongside Pharrell.
I enjoy people who know how to bring their vision across and Kanye is very specific with what he likes and doesn’t like – Joe Zee (Creative Director, ELLE Magazine)
How do you feel about this? Should he just stick to the music?
P.S. make sure you vote for MESH. in the Black Weblog Awards 2009 [here] (questions #8 & #16)

P.S. The Clipse album just got pushed back .. whada[fx]up?!

Pharrell sounds extremely annoyed on this track. He sounds like someone got under his skin and he’s over it. I definitely know how he feels, but the song gets a little redundant.
Heres a new joint by Usher produced by Pharrell titled “Certified“. It has a very laid back vibe reminiscent of previous Pharrell produced tracks. I’m feeling it, are you?

— Billionaire Boys Club been dope.
Add chic to the resumé. Pharrell’s growing up. Letting the tats go (look out for the six figure skin graph he’s planning on getting to cover up his tatoos)–”I’m too old for that sh**” he says. I dig it. The new look is refined. The colored tee shirts aren’t gone, but it’s nice to see the other side of the mind of this style icon.

So earlier today Pharrell was spotted at the Serpentine Gallery summer party in London rocking these knee high boots. I guess he’s trying to give Kanye’s Timbs a run for their money..I joke, I joke. What do you think?
Take a look at the behind the scenes of The Clipse follow up video/single “I’m Good” for their Til the Casket Drops album set to release in September.
Clipse feat Pharrell – I’m Good Behind The Scenes from Malice of the Clipse on Vimeo.
I must say I’m glad they have this song. I’m not quite feeling their first single and think this one could be a real good look for The Clipse.
Here is the first official single from the upcoming Clipse album Til the Casket Drops. Entitled “I’m Good” the track is a Pharrell assisted track produced by none other than the Neptunes (who are on the come up with producing again). The track is nearly perfect for the summertime and is slightly different from the usual Neptune beats. I like it a lot. Well, stop reading this already and download!

Have you noticed all the “new” artists are old music producers? The producer turned artist is a growing phenomenon, almost as apparent as the songwriter turned artist (Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson, The Dream, etc.). It seems that simply being behind the scenes of the music industry simply doesn’t suffice anymore. I guess it’s hard to get a taste of the attention without wanting the whole pie of fame and celebrity.
At this point, the vast majority of us can name all four Kanye West albums in 5 seconds flat. (College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, and 808′s & Heartbreak in case you forgot). A lot of us can’t however name nearly half of the artists he’s produced for. Probably one of the most successful producers turned artist, Kanye has established himself and a substantial force in the Hip Hop game. He continues to produce for others while remaining the mega artists he has become to be. I just wonder what made him decide that strictly being behind the scenes was a no go for him.
Kanye's triumphs as a music producer and artist.
Famously successful producers turned artist Timbaland and Missy Elliott made the change in the 90′s and continue to claim success in both arenas of music star and music creator. Timbaland’s Shock Value was a highly successful effort while any and everything Missy releases is innovative, different, and pioneering.
Pharrell Williams has also claimed success as both a solo artists and with his group N.E.R.D with producing with partners as The Neptunes being his earliest form of attention and success.
Ryan Leslie is among the relatively recent group of producers following the trend. Ryan is known for his signature synthetic beats and catchy melodies. He figured why not use this style for myself and debuted his first album earlier this year.
Ryan Leslie's talent is undeniable.
Although it seems like the likely (and these days expected) decision for producers to churn out their own albums, all who try aren’t successful. It’s also nice to see producers refrain from the trend (Dallas Austin, Brian Michael Cox). And soon joining the rank of producers turned artist will be Jazze Pha (Ciara’s “Goodies”, Cherish’s “Do it To It”). He plans to release his Ladies & Gentlemen album this year. Wonder if it will garner the success of his other producing friends. If not, there’s always sticking with what your good at right?
